The Tony O’Malley Band

Sunday June 4th – 5pm

Main Stage on The Stade Open Space

Tony returns to Hastings with his great band and no doubt some surprises!

Take some soulful vocals and funky piano playing from Tony O’Malley, founder of UK Soul Pioneers Kokomo. Mix with guitar, bass and drums from some of Britain’s brightest young talent, and the occasional special guest. Add a blend of classic songs, undiscovered gems and original material. Truly Food for the Soul.

Tony has a musical history many would envy. His first successful band was Arrival who had two top ten hits throughout Europe with “Friends” and “I Will Survive” in 1970.

Seeking new challenges Tony formed Kokomo, a ten piece soul band featuring singers from Arrival and top instrumentalists. They took London by storm in 1973 and toured Europe and America supporting their close friends ‘The Average White Band’. They also recorded with Bob Dylan in New York on his album, “Desire’.

Financial problems forced members of Kokomo to seek work with other artists, i.e. Bryan Ferry, Alvin Lee, Joe Cocker, The Rolling Stones and many more. Tony joined 10CC in 1977 and toured the UK, Europe, Japan and Australia, recording one album, “Live and Let Live”.

Tony went solo in 1978 and hasn’t looked back. Sell-out concerts in Ronnie Scotts and the 606 Clubs in London led to tours all over the world and a string of great albums.

He is a class-act!
